Title [sv]
Forskarnätverk om digital politik
Title [en]
Research Network on Digital Politics
Abstract [sv]
Abstract [en]
The research network on digital politics aimed to create a platform for inspiration andcollaboration around the analytical, theoretical and methodological challenges in the study of digital politics. The rapid and deep integration of digital technologies, social media and AIbased systems in society has vast implications for political life. It shapes election campaigns, public opinion, and how people participate in politics. It introduces new elites, new resources in the form of data, and newly autonomous technological actors. The developments (re)distribute political, social, and economic power. Analysing the implications presents multidimensional scientific challenges. The network therefore drew together researchers from different domains to gain interdisciplinary traction on issues that pertain to three areas: (1) How political practice, participation and power shapes and is shaped by digitalisation; (2) The politics of organising, regulating, and governing digitalisation; (3) Critical computational methods: developing critical awareness in deploying AI-based methods in the production of knowledge about society. The network gathered researchers primarily from the Departments of Government, Informatics and Media, Information Technology, Law, and Linguistics and Philology at Uppsala University. The network organized two kinds of activities: open research seminars and lectures with international guest speakers, and internal workshops for the presentation of ongoing work, thematic discussion, and practical explorations of data and methods
