BIM – Theory to reality (English)
Abstract [sv]

missförstånd i byggprojekten.

LOD

laget arbetade i fält bearbetades tekniken knappt.

utföra i BIM-modellen.

Abstract [en]

BIM is a comprehensive and new concept, that will change the entire construction industry. It

is an optimized process, made possible with the help of an advanced CAD-technology.

Projects have shown large improvements in efficiency by reducing the disruptions and

material waste with a BIM-oriented workflow. Our main focus when making this report was

to understand Skanska's level of BIM implementation. We chose a housing in Gothenburg,

Sweden to be our critical assessment, we wanted to identify weaknesses and improvements

by examining the model's potential in comparison with the actual work completed associated

with model usage.

The quality of a BIM model is determined by details, both visually and informative. The

LOD (Level of Development) evolves along with the model's different phases of

construction. LOD 100 is the fundamental level and is related with sketching and proposed

ideas for potential customers. LOD 500 is the final step, a built documentation/model which

has the potential to include every detail about the facility/construction. Although the

production process is not yet finished flaws has already been discovered in the model.

Model information level (LOI) improves depending on the information conveyed throughout

the model, a scale from zero to three that indicates the Staffs level of usage throughout BIMtechnology.

Level zero is a job without the 3D model whereas production and distribution are

handled by paper or prints. The cooperation by all disciplines working along a single model

also known as "Open IBM" occurs in level 3. The model was frequently used during

Preparatory work and meetings, although construction personal did not find their new

equipment useful.

When designing of a BIM-model's characteristics you determine the potential of BIMmanagement.

People working on site has to communicate their requirements to the designer

of what they consider useful, without feedback there is no progress. Skanska’s current model

does not allow them to laden anything but windows, interior doors and interior walls.

Skanska’s staff want the ability to define objects, for example, an apartment and get the

contents in that particular space or a visual 3D-timeline of what to come and what is already

done step by step like a work description.
