Josefine Holmgren & Finnan Kidane (2016). Läsförståelse i läromedel: en undersökning om hur läsförståelse framställs i läromedel i ämnet svenska för åk 6. Independent Project, Swedish, Specialisation in Grades 4-6, Basic Course, 15 Credits. School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences.This study analyses four different teaching materials: Bums, Vän med svenska 3, Simsalabim and Svenskan 6.The aim is to examine how teaching materials, used in the subject of Swedish, produce reading comprehension, consequently how teaching materials are structured to give pupils the opportunity to practice their reading comprehension. We will show how certain teaching materials have been chosen to emphasise reading comprehension in order to give pupils the opportunity to practice the skills required so as to develop their reading comprehension and become advance readers. To select four random teaching materials from major publishers provides a good base for the analysis and for the study to be comparable. The method relevant for our study is a qualitative approach. Our study is based on a qualitative comparative teaching materials study focusing on content analysis.The results of this analysis show that all four teaching materials have basically the same purpose, but the structure is different. All four teaching materials have tasks, their students should read a text and afterwards answer questions about the text. In our analysis we have observed that it is of major importance as to how a question is framed. It is the questions that control which skills the students have the opportunity to practice on. All the teaching materials are connected to the curriculum however, they are shown at different grades.
