Abstract [en]

This qualitative study examines the internal communication in a global organisation from the employee’s point of view. The study intends to identify the different needs and references of internal communication of employees working in production and employees working in administration. The focus of the study is the organisations intranet. The study uses the qualitative interview as a method. The results that emerged confirmed that internal communication is a complex phenomenon, perhaps even more so for a global organisation. The study shows that employees working within administration use the intranet far more than employees working with production. Three contributing factors to why the intranet isn’t being used in the way preferred by the organisation was identified; the employees have very different access to the intranet, some have too little knowledge of its different functions and appliances and some have a lack of interest in taking part of the global information published on the intranet.
