The purpose of this essay is to examine about second language learning, and study how class teachers in collaboration with other groups of teachers in primary school work with second language acquisition. The idea is to find out how a teacher works in a class with few native speakers and how the teacher works in a class with more second languagespeakers. In order to get answers to my questions that form the basis of my essay, I have used a qualitative research method and semi structured interviews. I have chosen to interview three class teachers; a teacher to a class of multilingual pupils, a teacher in a preparatory class and a class teacher for a class with students who have Swedish as their mother tongue. I investigate relevant literature regarding the topic of second language; I have used the Libris database and also the Internet. My results show that there are many techniques that teachers can use around second language acquisition. A teacher should intervene at an early stage by providing student support: motivate and inspire their students to learn the Swedish language.
