Abstract [en]

The purpose of the paper is to study the political ideology of the Moderates in terms of social vision, economic organization and the view of the human in relation to the ideology of the declaration of government. Specifically, by systematically identifying three different occasions when the moderates were in government with other parties in what is called the Bourgeois government.

The three periods the study will be analyzing are in 1976, 1991 and 2006. Another underlying purpose for highlighting the three specific years was to study one year where the Moderates were not the largest party in the alliance. Which gives an additional perspective on the relationship between the party's ideological position and the declaration of government, as it allows to take other possible circumstances into account when you look at the correlation between the two.

This study is a qualitative study where I have used a qualitative text analysis to study party programs as well as the political coalition’s declaration of government from the years 1976, 1991 and 2006. In order to draw conclusions about the collected material, an idea analysis is carried out using dimensions.

The results show that the in terms of social vision, the Moderates have shifted from conservatism to liberalism, while government has held a liberal view. It should also be noted that they have become more alike as the results show that year 2006 Moderates were more liberal in terms of the social vision, like the government. The same outcome could be expressed in terms of the concept of economic organization where the Moderates have shifted from conservatism to liberalism while the government has maintained a liberal view throughout the years, which indicates that they have also come closer to each other ideologically. Regarding the view of man, the Moderates have had a liberal ideological attitude towards human perception. However, the government changed from 1976 liberal posture to 1991 a period where they were considerably more conservative, to later change back to a liberal attitude in 2006.
