Abstract [en]

This study aims to examine how different computer games can be applied in English teaching in middle-school and what type of games can be used in English teaching. This study also focuses on how computer games can develop reading/writing/listening/speaking skills in an EFL-context which are major goals in the Swedish syllabus for English. This study is a literature study where earlier studies about computer games in teaching have been analyzed and compared to each other in order to show how computer games can be used and what the outcome of their implementation has been. The results showed that there are many ways of using computer games in English teaching and that computer games can improve the vocabulary but also reading, writing, listening, speaking skills. The results also showed that different role-play games have been effective in English teaching.
