Abstract [sv]

I PISA 2012 hamnade England på en elfte plats och Sverige på en tjugonde plats när det gäller problemlösning i matematik, OECD (2014). I båda länderna är undervisningen lärobokstyrd. I denna studie har jag därför undersökt den mest använda läroboken i respektive land. Denna undersökning genomfördes genom att först säkerställa alla de problemuppgifter som finns i matematikböckerna med hjälp av kriterier som är framtagna av tidigare forskare. För att sedan urskilja om dessa problemuppgifter är öppna respektive slutna problemuppgifter. Resultatet visar att problemlösning behandlas i samma omfattning i båda läroböckerna men att det engelska innehåller väsentligt fler öppna problemuppgifter än det svenska.

Abstract [en]

In PISA 2012 England ended in eleventh place and Sweden in twentieth place when it comes to problem solving in mathematics, OECD (2014). In both countries, teaching with textbook are mean thing. In this study, I have therefore examined the most widely used teaching material in each country. This survey was conducted by first ensuring all the problem solving tasks contained in mathematics books using the criteria from previous research. Then use the criteria to see if these problem tasks are open or closed problems. The results show that problem solving is treated to the same extent in both books but that English contains significantly more open problems tasks than the Swedish one.
