Abstract [en]

The labor market of today holds a higher demand on the individual to find a balance between work-life and family-life, because it is characterized by individualization and flexibility. The result of this change has been that peoples work-life is increasingly characterized by ”freedom under responsibility”. The purpose of this paper is to show how consulting managers in staffing agencies feel   they are affected by spill-overs on work-life and family-life. In addition, this paper studies  if the  consulting managers  are  experiencing any form of  support in finding a balance between the boundaries, and if they are experiencing any stress-related illness. To study this  subject,  six  participants  working  as  a  consulting  manager  for  at  least  a  year  were interviewed. The empirical data was analyzed with the help of a few chosen theories. The results are analyzed in relation to former research, concerning this subject of interest. The study shows that   consulting   managers   experience   that   their   work-roles   is   accompanied,   both   by opportunities and tensions. The conclusion of this paper is that the consulting managers are happy with their chosen field of work even though they are aware that it is characterized by a stressing and pressured environment. All consulting managers underlined that there are many young and ambitious individuals who cannot cope with the role that follows.
