Abstract [en]

Temporary work agents (TWA) are placed in a peculiar situation since they could change customer companies and thus workplaces and colleagues at any time. That puts the TWA in situations where they are forced to socialize with new coworkers far more than the average employees. The purpose with this study is to see how TWA experience socialization in customer organizations and their employees as hired staff in their current work life settings. We also wanted to highlight how the temporary work agents experience belonging in the customer organizations they work in. Our mainly theories for this study is about socialization, established & outsiders, and Simmels stranger. The previous research focuses on TWA socialization, their social work and social work life settings. During the course of the study seven interviews were conducted, six of the interviews were conducted with TWA and one with a staff manager to gather information to show how consultants largely feel towards socialization in the customer organization and with its employees.  The result we found showed that consultants do not identify with customers or their employees to a great extent, nor do they feel a need or compulsion to socialize with the customer. The result also showed that the consultants perceive to have a lower position than employees who carry out the same tasks.
