Logistics and production investigation of mechanical pulp in Rockhammar (English)
Abstract [sv]

Följande examensarbete har utförts i uppdrag av BillerudKorsnäs. Arbetet har genomförts som en utredning av två olika alternativ till kapacitetsökning av massaproduktionen i Rockhammar. Den huvudsakliga skillnaden mellan de framtida produktionsalternativen, är att Rockhammar antingen producerar all mekanisk massa i balad form eller en del som torrpressad mekanisk massa och resterande del som balad form. Genom att samla in data om framtida behov, nuläget och tekniska förutsättningar, har realistiska framtida produktionsplaner för de olika alternativen tagits fram. Dessa har legat till grund för framställningen av transport- och lagerbehov. Utifrån produktionsplanerna, transport- och lagerbehov har en jämförelse av de båda alternativen genomförts med utgångspunkt i Lean-slöserierna, samt att för- och nackdelar identifierades.

Utredningen indikerar att alternativ 1, där all massa produceras i balad form, framstår som det mest fördelaktiga i avseende på transporter, planeringskomplexitet och årsproduktion. Vidare utredningsarbete behöver utföras angående för- och nackdelar. Detta då denna rapport ej behandlar det ekonomiska värdet av varje för- och nackdel.

Abstract [en]

The following thesis has been performed on assignment by BillerudKorsnäs. The project has been implemented as an investigation of two different alternatives for capacity increase of the pulp production in Rockhammar. The main difference between the future production plans, is that Rockhammar will either produce all mechanical pulp in bundled form or a part as dry pressed mechanical pulp and remaining part in bundled form. Through collection of data regarding future needs, current situation and technical conditions, realistic production plans for the different alternatives have been produced. These plans have been the foundation for the making of transport- and inventory needs. From the plans, transport- and inventory needs, a comparison between the two alternatives was performed, with wastes of Lean as a starting point. Pros and cons have also been identified.

The investigation indicates that alternative 1, where all pulp is produced in bundled form, appear to be the most favorable if transports, complexity of planning and annual production are taken into consideration. Further investigation on the pros and cons is needed, because this report does not process the economic value of each pros and cons.
