Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to see whether young children’s relationships to parents and peers are connected with different types of aggression. Gender differences in types of aggression and their associations with relationships were examined. The target group in the study was 200 three- to five year olds in twelve preschools in a Swedish city. The ratings were done by parents and preschool teachers. There was an association between a child’s aggression and his/her relations to parents and peers. Parents’ ratings of aggression were not related to teacher’s ratings of the child’s relations, and teachers’ ratings of aggression were not related to parent’s ratings of the child’s relations. The results show that there are no general gender differences in the connection between aggression and relations.
