”Everything is a help…” About reaching the labour market, with help of Samhall

ABSTRACT

The principal purpose of this essay has been to try to describe and understand the meaning of meaningful tasks in Samhalls direction to gradually be able to reach the regular labour market. In particular, attention was paid to which attitude the informant has to their work at Samhall and how theirs visions on the future looks like. We also pay attention to the meaning of a meaningful task on the basis of the informants and relevant literature. We also talk about the informant’s opinion of a meaningful task and difference from the meaning Samhall has of a meaningful task. During the interviews we structure the questions on the basis of four areas personal, previous work/previous education, functional disability, present working situation and thoughts around the future and how they are able to reach the regular labour market. We have chosen to apply a qualitative method, our paper is made of theoretical basis and the purpose is to describe. The collection of data that we have been used is interviews with persons which work at Samhall and have a functional disability and relevant literature within the area. The result showed on the basis of the interviews that the understanding around a meaningful task was told apart between the informants. There were divided opinions around the wish to reach and be able to reach the regular labour market. In the analysis we rendered our results of the interviews with the help of Erving Goffman and the things he writes about the theatre metaphor and also stigma. We have also used some things that Erik Homburger Erikson writes about the different stage in life with focus on the seventh stage. Finally we also talk about Rolf Stål and what he writes about subjective and objective conditions and resources and activity. We have also included Samhall and their view on work, and their vision on a meaningful task. Our discussion dealt with opportunities to reach the regular labour market when you have a functional disability. We put the opinions about a meaningful task for the informants against what Samhall term a meaningful task. We also discuss on the basis of the theorists that we have chosen in the essay.
