Abstract [en]

The purpose of this essay is to develop knowledge about multilingualism, specifically involving one student in a Swedish school. Relating to my purpose I investigated two aspects: 1) how does the multilingual student view her multilingualism and 2) a teacher’s approach to the student’s multilingualism. In order for me to gather information about the above, I performed a Qualitative Interview Research by interviewing two teachers and one student. I also present in my essay previous research about the subject. The result contains a presentation of the student and her answers concerning the questions given. My findings show that there are a number of aspects of the student’s multilingualism that have an everyday affect on her, both in the home and at school. I also discovered existing cultural and emotional issues held by the student that the teachers were not aware of. These aspects of the student’s multilingualism were never discussed between her and her teachers.
