Abstract [en]

Abstract

Different kinds of crises happen to every society. Depending on the character of the crisis the consequences vary. Leadership in times of crises brings about immense demands on actors within the rescue and social services. The purpose of this study is to, with a qualitative approach, illuminate factors that influence leadership and to examine how 16 municipal officials in leading positions view leadership in crises. All the actors have experienced some kind of crisis. The tool used for the analysis is grounded theory. Two main categories emerge in the result; attitude and leader role. Attitude is divided into the three subcategories; risk perception, relationships and personal qualities. Leader role is divided into; view on the actors own role, actual role and responsibility and also responsibility beyond the role. A model of the interactions between the categories is presented.
