Abstract [en]

Obese children has increased dramatically in recent years while the idealpicture is a slim and fit body. How this affects the children who have obesity is important to highlight both the community so they become aware of how they respond to these children, and professionals. There is not much previous research that answers the question. The aim is to highlight how children who are obese are treated in the social landscape, how they react and if they use strategies to cope with the reactions. The method is a qualitative approach consisting of a content analysis of eight research articles and, to get more width in analyzing the material, a respondentintervju. The result shows that obesity is a stigma and that most children are being bullied and teaced for obesity. However, there are children who do not become bullied. The reactions that may be brought in children who are bullied include anxiety, which shows itself in the form of, for example, a greater emotional vulnerability or identity problems. The result also shows that children using four strategies for dealing with the reactions, dieting, avoid places where the body will be conspicuous, hanging out with accepting friends, and to change their behavior.
