Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to see if the book Charlotte’s Web has the potential to strengthen students' reading skills in a school context. The method for doing this study is to do a qualitative analysis to see how the book corresponds to the central content related to reading of the English subject from the curriculum, Lgr22. The results showed that Charlotte’s Web has a variety of different text genres, which includes arguments, instructions, storytelling, and facts, and illustrations that correspond to the central content. The variety of different text genres can provide the students with knowledge on how the genres differs from each other and further develop their understanding and skills. Therefore, the conclusion was that the book has good potential to strengthen the students' reading skills.
