On Noetherian Rings

Abstract [en]

In this thesis we study a special class of rings called Noetherian rings. Theserings satisfy certain finite conditions on their ideals and appear in manydifferent fields of algebra. With an emphasis on commutative Noetherianrings we examine their structure and properties, their relation to anotherspecial class of rings called Artinian rings and the practicality of workingwith Noetherian rings in algebraic geometry. Some central results whichare proved is the Lasker-Noether Theorem, that Noetherian rings have anilpotent nilradical and that Artinian rings are Noetherian.

Abstract [sv]

I den här uppsatsen studeras Noetherska ringar vilket är en speciell klass avringar som uppfyller vissa ändlighetskrav på sina ideal. Med fokus på kommutativa Noetherska ringar bevisas ett flertal egenskaper hos dessa ringar.Några centrala resultat som bevisas är att varje ideal i en Noethersk ring kanskrivas som ett ändligt snitt av primärideal, att ändligt generade algebroröver Noetherska ringar är Noetherska och att nilradikalen är nilpotent. Vigenomför även en jämförelse mellan Noetherska och Artinska ringar och bevisar att Artinska ringar även är Noetherska. Avslutningsvis demonstrerasen av fördelarna med att arbeta med Noetherska ringar i algebraisk geometri.
