Abstract [en]

This essay investigates Daniel Ek and Joe Rogan's crisis management regarding misinformation about covid-19. The purpose of the essay is to analyze and study Ek and Rogan's crisis management during their crisis of confidence. This has been achieved using the method of rhetorical text analysis. The qualitative method allowed för different interpretations of how Ek and Rogan's statements could restore their legitimacy and their reputation. The theoretical framework used to analyze the study's results were rhetorical theory and image repair theory. The results mainly showed that the respective statements used value-laden words and stories to support their rhetorical ability. In addition, Ek and Rogan used crisis management messages such as corrective action, avoidance of responsibility and reduced offensiveness. Further studies in the same area could deal with Rogan's other crises that happened in relation to the crisis of confidence about covid-19 and whether this affected his crisis management.
