The world of feelings is complicated; adding multiple spatial contexts makes it even more so. Often approaches to understanding migration processes avoid the complicated role of migrant’s emotions as part of the constellations of lived spatial linkages. This commentary examines the contributions of Section II chapters, which are both in-depth qualitative interview studies of migrants to Finland who maintain translocal ties over the life course. It explores how emotions are connective, linking places through familial or social ties and examines the implications of localities and the ways emotions connect translocal spaces together at various scales. The commentary chapter demonstrates how the translocal perspective allows us to understand the highly individualised role of life course within migration while embracing the notion that individuals are neither isolated nor autonomous, rather they sit in relation to numerous constellations of social relations. It concludes with a call for deeper exploration on the role of local and translocal in emotional geographies.
