Abstract [en]

In the research project Youth mental health in Swedish medical literature 1970-2017, the view on the mental health of children and young people is examined from a gender perspective. The study examines how mental illness and psychosocial problems have been explained, whether questions, problems and explanations have changed over time, and how girls and boys' ill-health is presented. The ambition has been to gain in-depth knowledge of how medical knowledge relates to the historical context and interacts with other political and social discourses. The project has been carried out within the framework of the interdisciplinary Swedish national research program The three-cities study.
