Abstract [en]

The term 'patient' originally means the sufferer. The only way to plan a care together with thepatient is to get the patient involved in all the aspects of their healthcare. Mental healthcare hasdifficulty getting patients involved. Children and adolescents with psychiatric diagnoses’s seldombeing asked to get involved. Aim with this study was to gain an understanding of factors required toget children and adolescents involved in their own mental healthcare. An integrative systematicreview based on 14 articles which searched in databases PubMed, CINHAL and PsycINFO wasperformed. Data were identified from all included articles. The analysis method was carried outaccording to Whittemore and Knafl's method. Five categories were identified, representing thechildren and adolescents’ point of view of importance of trusting, importance of participation andbeing included, importance of information, importance of tailored sessions and importance ofconsistency.
