Abstract [en]

Never before have so many people been as old as we are in

Sweden today. For society to follow the development it is also required for the research to develop the knowledge about the elderly and increase their living. Previous research highlights the four cornerstones that leads to healthy aging; physical activity, healthy eating habits, social relationships and meaningful. One way to increase knowledge is to offer preventive home visits. In this study we choosed to look at preventive home visits from a gender perspective. The question is whether there is any discrepancy between men's and women's physical activity, healthy eating habits, social relations and meaningfulness. In order to answer our questions, we took notes from a ready-made material used in preventive home visits in a medium-sized municipality in Sweden. The material consisted of a quantitative survey, and we choose to analyze the elements of performance related to our key concepts. In order to process and analyze the results, we used a multi-variable analys. The results showed that there are some differences from a gender perspective. There are no significant difference between men's and women's eating habits, and meaningfulness. On the other hand, it appeared that there are differences between the sexes in terms of their social relationships and physical activities. Keywords: health, gender, physical activity, healthy eating habits, social relations and meaningfulness.
