Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

How did Adolf Hitler’s demagogy manage to influence so many people for so long? This question has occupied both researchers and laymen ever since Hitler started to dominate the political scene during the early twenties. His success seems almost paradoxical for us today, now that in posterity we see him as a very dangerous, although in many ways quite ridiculous politician, whom was still able to gather the masses behind him when relying to a large extent on just the spoken word. How can we explain that such a person can lead a fairly sophisticated country from a budding, if chaotic democracy, to an extreme dictatorship in just a few short years?.
