Abstract [en]
The study was designed to investigate the state of health, the social situation and employment
opportunities for young adults with disabilities.
The study consists of both a quantitative and qualitative research. We have sent 75 questionnaires to young adults with disabilities, and interviewed two consultants working from Activa and the Swedish Employment Service. The theoretical approach we started with was the marginalization, stigmatization and normalcy of law. The previous research we have chosen to indicate three international articles, nine Swedish articles and a Swedish dissertation.
In summary, we found that the overall health among persons with disabilities is lower than for the rest of the population. We compared our research with the study, Liv och hälsa ung. The results of our research also showed that a job or other occupations can help young adults with disabilities in several ways. The health and social life are linked to peoples future spirit. A custom work for young adults with disabilities can create conditions for a better life.
