Syftet med denna studie är att belysa den eventuella problematik som uppstår vid avhopp från en sluten religiös rörelse samt det behov av stöd som då föreligger. Genom att se till tidigare forskning går det att konstatera att dem konsekvenser som uppkommer vid ett avhopp kan vara katastrofala för individen vilket även studiens respondenter lyft fram. För att lyfta fram den problematik som uppkommer vid lämnande har en kvalitativ undersökning med sex respondenter från tre olika rörelser utförts. Det resultat som framkommit visar på att samtliga respondenter saknat det stöd från samhället dem ansett sig vara i behov av samt att stöd som endast stått att finna från diverse hjälporganisationer, såsom Hjälpkällan. I enlighet med studiens syfte har där framkommit att det saknas ett socialt stöd för dem som lämnar sekter samt att dessa individer vill se ett större underlag för hjälp och stöd samt mer kunskap hos bland annat socialtjänsten, sjukvården och från övriga samhället i stort.

The purpose with this study is to illuminate the problems that may occur when leaving a closed religious movement and the need for support for those who leave. By looking at earlier research one can note that the consequences that come from leaving a sect can be devastating for the individual witch this study's respondents have enlightened. To illuminate the problems that may occur, there has been made a qualitative research with six respondents from three different religious movements. The result this research has given shows that all of the respondents lack the need for support that they felt they needed from the society. However the support they got came from the help organization "Hjälpkällan" which is founded by ex-sect members. According to this study's purpose there has been reviled that there is a lack of support for those who leave sects and that those individuals would like to see better support and knowledge from the social services, the healthcare and from the society in general.
