Abstract [en]

From that disabled students for a long time been denied access to the public school, they have gradually included more and more in education. This has led us to today's educational world in increasingly come to discuss the concept of "education for all", this term we interpret as a school where all students should be seen as equal and thus given an equal education. To gain a deeper understanding of this concept, we intend in this study to investigate specialpedagogers descriptions of their work and mission. This we intend to do from a qualitative interview study in which we interviewed four special education teachers working in primary schools in Örebro. The results we have found is that the various special educators' descriptions of their work and assignments differ to some extent. All believe that it is necessary for their work to have a close relationship with the students as a large part of the special education process is of a sensitive nature. We also found that the relationship between special educators and subject teachers are asymmetric where special educators have a superior position. However, it should be emphasized that this senior position only arises in relation to matters relating to disabled students. It helps special educators especially with guidance, support and advice to the subject teachers. Relationship to student health team and other special educators portrayed instead of a more equal footing collaboration where they support and help each other, which means that special educators themselves must take part of the support and advice. A theme that is discussed between special education teachers and student health team is diagnosis, which is a particular dilemma when special educators both highlights the pros and cons of diagnosis. We also noted that special educators relationship with the governing documents are characterized by an independent approach, in the view that the policy documents are interpretable and should be tailored to students' needs and abilities. Special Educators also believes that in discussing policy documents regulations in order to establish an equal education for all students. Based on special educators' descriptions and the previous research, we interpret it as the concept of "education for all" had some impact but it's a long way to go before this goal can be said to have been reached, if it is at all a possibility.
