Sammanfattning

Bakgrund

: Att ta emot rapport om patienter från ambulanspersonal upptar tidsmässigt en stor del av akutsjuksköterskans dagliga arbete. Både akutsjuksköterskor och ambulanspersonal kan uppleva överrapporteringarna som problematiska. Brist på tid, lämplig lokal, intresse och kunskap är några av de problem som upplevs av personalen enligt tidigare studier.

Syfte

: Att beskriva akutsjuksköterskors upplevelser av överrapporteringar från ambulanspersonal.

Metod

: Studien har en deskriptiv design med kvalitativ ansats. Datainsamlingen genomfördes med hjälp av två fokusgruppsintervjuer. Tolv informanter deltog i studien. Materialet har bearbetats med kvalitativ innehållsanalys.

Resultat

: Genom analysen framkom temat Den optimala överrapporteringen sker i en ostörd miljö efter en känd struktur mellan engagerad och fokuserad personal. Kategorierna i resultatet är följande: arbetsmiljö, patientsäkerhet, överrapporteringens innehåll och struktur, personalens inverkan och optimal överrapportering. I resultatet framkommer att akutsjuksköterskorna till största delen upplever överrapporteringarna som bra men att miljön runt situationen, struktur på innehållet, själva faktainnehållet samt vilken person som rapporterar har betydelse för kvalitén och därmed även för patientsäkerheten.

Slutsats

: Överrapporteringarna är viktiga för patientens fortsatta goda och säkra vård. Det är ett ämne som behöver synliggöras mer inom både akutsjukvården och ambulanssjukvården för att personal skall nå en optimal överrapportering. Patientsäkerheten kan förbättras genom att rapportera efter en strukturerad mall, exempelvis SBAR, för att undvika informationsbortfall.

Abstract

Background

: Receiving reports about the patients from the ambulance staff occupies the emergency nurse to a large extent during her daily work. Emergency nurses as well as ambulance staff may experience handovers as problematic. The problems apprehended are among other things, lack of time, room and lack of interest and knowledge of the personnel.

Purpose

: To describe the emergency nurses experiences about handover from the ambulance staff.

Method

: The study has a descriptive design and qualitative approach. The data collection were performed by means of two focus group interviews. Twelve informants took part in the study. The material has been analysed by means of a qualitative content analysis.

Result

: From the analysis the following theme emerged. The optimal handover takes place in an undisturbed environment, following a known structure between committed and focused staff. The categories in the result are the following: work environment, patient safety, content and structure of the verbal handover, influence of the staff and optimal handover. The result showed that the emergency nurses to the largest extent experience the handover as good, but the environment around verbal handover, the structure of the content, the content itself as well as the person performing the handover have effect on the quality and thereby also on the patient safety.

Conclusion

: Optimal verbal handovers is essential for the further good and safe care of the patient. This is a subject that needs more attention within the emergency care as well as the ambulance care, in order for the staff to achieve an optimal handover. The patient safety can be improved by handovers following a structured template, for instance SBAR, in order to avoid loss of information.
