Syftet med denna studie var att kartlägga socialtjänstens insatser för att motverka skolfrånvaro samt undersöka insatsernas syfte, utformning och de professionellas erfarenheter kring insatserna. I studien har vi använt oss av kvalitativ metod. Den kvalitativa datan har vi samlat in genom att göra intervjuer med en professionell från socialtjänstens öppenvård för barn och unga och med en professionell från socialtjänstens enhet Familjepedagogerna. Båda dessa professionella arbetar med ungdomar som har skolfrånvaro. Vi har även inhämtat dokumentation i form av programmallar från de båda enheterna. Studien visar att insatser mot skolfrånvaro bör vara utformade efter den enskilda ungdomen och att även att insatsens längd bör anpassas efter ungdomens behov för att insatsen ska få positiva resultat. Utifrån den tidigare forskning vi har tagit del av samt intervjumaterial tydliggörs vikten av strukturerade insatser för att minska skolfrånvaron.

The purpose of this study was to identify social service initiatives to counteract high school absenteeism, and examine interventions purpose and design. In the study, we used qualitative methods and the qualitative data we collected through interviews with one professional from the social services non-institutional care for children and young people and with one professional from the social services unit family educators. Both of these professionals work with young people who have been truant. We have also collected documentation from the interviewees. The study shows that efforts against school absenteeism should be designed for the individual youth and also time should be adapted to the needs of the youth to get positive results. Based on the previous research we have obtained and the interviews it became clear that structured interventions are an important part of reducing absenteeism.
