Abstract [en]
The research aims to explore if and how the administration of cases is affected by the social workers knowledge of honour related violence and oppression (HRVO), and by the social workers definition of HRVO. Furthermore the study aims to explore how current legislature and policy documents affects the administration of cases, how the social services collabora-tion with other organizations is expressed as well as the significant components in a profes-sional approach towards the client. The study is based on interviews with two social workers, whom are active in a reference group focused on HRVO. Chosen theories, concepts and rele-vant legislation, which is described under the framework for analysis, was used to analyze the empirical data. This research demonstrates that the client’s needs may not be met due to a lack of a unanimous definition combined with inadequate guidelines and policy document. In order to countervail HRVO and give the clients a professional approach, knowledge and compe-tence is of the essence. Collaboration is a fundamental aspect of the work due to the com-plexity of HRVO and the victims various needs. The results aim to increase the awareness regarding the need of a unanimous definition of HRVO and the various impacts a lack of def-inition may have on the administration of cases.
