Abstract [sv]

Denna studie syftar till att öka förståelsen för utomhusmatematik. Studiens utgångspunkt är att undersöka vilka innehållsområden av matematiken som kan beröras genom utomhusmatematik i grundskolan, vilka förmågor som tränas samt vilken variation mellan sinnen utomhusmiljön erbjuder. Studiens metod grundar sig på en observation av en fortbildning inom utomhusmatematik samt en intervju med fortbildaren.

De huvudsakliga resultaten visar att alla innehållsområden ur Lgr11 upplevs vara möjliga att beröra vid utomhusmatematik, speciellt med avseende på läroplanens krav att matematiken i skolan idag ska vara verklighetsanknuten, något som utomhusmatematiken tycks ge möjlighet till. Inom utomhusmatematik tycks enligt respondenten främst kommunikationsförmågan, begreppsförmågan, resonemangsförmågan och problemlösningsförmågan komma till uttryck och en slutsats utifrån detta är att metoden utgör ett bra komplement till annan undervisning. I utomhusmiljön aktiveras fler sinnen och möjligheten att fler elever nås av det matematiska innehållet ökar. De flesta sinnen tycks aktiveras, men främst blir de kinestetiska, taktila och visuella sinnena aktiva i utövandet av utomhusmatematik.

Abstract [en]

This study aims to increase the understanding in outdoor mathematics. The study will investigate which areas of mathematics that are suitable to teach in elementary school, which abilities that gets stimulated and which sensual variation the outdoor environment provides. The method of the study consists of an observation of an education in outdoor mathematics and an interview with the educator.

The main result reveals that all areas of mathematics in the curriculum tend to be possible to relate to outdoor mathematics, especially regarding to the reality connection that the curriculum repeatedly demands. According to the respondent the communication ability, conceptual ability, reasoning ability and problem-solving ability tend to be the most prominent abilities that get practiced in outdoor mathematics. In conclusion therefore outdoor mathematics is a good complement to other educational methods. In the outdoor environment different senses get activated which increase the possibilities that more students receive better mathematical understanding. Most of the senses seem to be activated but the kinesthetic, tactile and visual senses mainly get the most attention.
