    ABSTRACT

    The purpose of this essay is to examine how hearing impaired people experience the refutation when confronted with Försäkringskassan. In order to answer the purpose of this study, these questions have been used as starting-points:

    - How do hearing impaired people experience their participation at Försäkringskassan?

    - How do hearing impaired people experience the communication with Försäkringskassan?

    - How do hearing impaired people experience the accessibility of information from Försäkringskassan?

    The study is qualitative and encompasses interviews from four individuals within the age of 21-52 years that suffer from hearing impairment and has had contact with Försäkringskassan in a middle sized city. The native language of these people is Swedish sign language. The respondents were interviewed according to a semi-structured interview guide. The results show that the respondents in this study experiences good or less good refutation at Försäkringskassan. Communicating with paper and pen is of no problem for them. The respondents found the attitude of the administrator to be a reason for a less positive refutation. According to the respondents, the refutation could be even better if they are able to use their native language as communication.
