Barn och unga med intellektuella eller neuropsykiatriska funktionsnedsättningar är kraftigtöverrepresenterade inom samhällsvården både nationellt och internationellt. Ett av degemensamma diagnoskriterierna är kommunikationssvårigheter, vilket kan få stora konsekvenserför barn och unga som på grund av detta blir begränsade i både kommunikation och delaktighet.Studiens syfte var att identifiera nyckelfaktorer som underlättar socialarbetares kommunikationmed barn och unga med intellektuella eller neuropsykiatriska funktionsnedsättningar. Desocialarbetare som avses i denna studie är socialarbetare inom socialtjänst och samhällsvård.Forskningsöversikten inkluderar 18 studier och i bearbetning och analys användes en abduktivansats. I forskningsöversikten identifieras tre nyckelfaktorer för att möjliggöra kommunikationenmellan socialarbetare och barn med språksvårigheter. Dessa tre är kommunikation för delaktighetoch skydd, praktiska kommunikativa färdigheter samt externa faktorer som möjliggörkommunikationen. Studiens resultat har myntat ut i en modellutveckling av Shiersdelaktighetsmodell för att förklara och ge verktyg till socialarbetares arbete med delaktighet ochkommunikation med barn och unga med intellektuella eller neuropsykiatriskafunktionsnedsättningar. Studiens resultat ger kunskap, handlingsplaner och konkreta strategier föratt socialarbetare ska kunna erbjuda skydd och delaktighet till dessa barn och unga.

Children and young people with intellectual or neuropsychiatric disabilities are severelyoverrepresented in social care both nationally and internationally. One of the common diagnosticcriteria is communication difficulties, which can have major consequences for children andyoung people who are therefore limited in communication and participation. The purpose of thestudy was to identify key factors that facilitate social workers' communication with children andyoung people with intellectual or neuropsychiatric disabilities. The social workers referred to inthis study are social workers in social services and community care. The research overviewincludes 18 studies and in processing and the thematic analysis of data an abductive approachwas used. The research review identifies three key factors to enable communication betweensocial workers and children with disabilities. These three are communication for participation andprotection, practical communication skills and external factors that enable communication. Theresults of the study have resulted in a model development of Shier's participation model toexplain social workers' communication with children and young people with intellectual orneuropsychiatric disabilities to enable participation. The results of the study provide knowledge,action plans and concrete strategies for social workers to be able to offer protection andparticipation to these children and young people
