Abstract [en]

In this chapter, the author outlines and demonstrates a novel pedagogical approach that significantly enhances students’ aesthetic competences in the context of meal design. Here the aesthetic gestalt process—understood as the organisation of elements into a cohesive and meaningful whole—is applied in CAMS education to cultivate students’ creative abilities. By showcasing the unique application of an aesthetical laboration, A:lab, within an educational setting, it is illustrated how it fosters students’ creative abilities and enables the development of a shared vision within a student group. By exploring imaginal knowing and encouraging students to deepen their sensory and emotional understanding of a theme, a more enriched design can emerge. The A:lab - Silence described in this chapter can be utilised increative processes across various contexts, subjects, and professions.
