MARIA JOHANSSON JOSEPHSSON
The purpose of this study is to explore the role and functioning of narrativity and embodiment in professional actor’s voice training.
The shaping of voice looks different within different workgroups, there are many different professions requiring professional voice use such as teachers and call-center staff. One group practicing strong connections between voice and embodied narrative meaning making practice is professional actors. The intersections between voice narrativity and embodiment is however seldom addressed.
The research uses mixed-method design drawing from interviews, workshops, and measures of voice. This study presents some vignettes from narrative analysis, indicate a changed perception of the transaction between the self and the role and that the actors sees themselves finding more dimensions in their acting abilities.
Presentation will involve narrative elements such as singing and acting.
