Abstract [sv]
Syftet med studien var att undersöka om optimism och val avcopingstrategier påverkar det subjektiva välbefinnandet hosuniversitetsstudenter, samt om graden av optimism har en betydelse.144 studenter deltog i en enkätundersökning via ettbekvämlighetsurval. De väletablerade mätinstrumenten Brief COPE,LOT-R samt SWLS användes. En stegvis multipel regressionsanalyssamt oberoende t-test utfördes i SPSS. Resultatet visade att optimismoch val av copingstrategier påverkade subjektivt välbefinnande, samtatt högre optimism associeras med högre välbefinnande ochemotionsfokuserade copingstrategier. Vidare visade resultatet attdysfunktionella copingstrategier användes i högre utsträckning avstudenter med låg optimism. Optimism och copingstrategier hadebetydelse för det subjektiva välbefinnandet men optimism var dencentrala faktorn för ett högre subjektivt välbefinnande.
Abstract [en]
The purpose of this study was to investigate if optimism and thechoice of coping strategies affect subjective well-being of universitystudents, and if the degree of optimism has a meaning. 144 studentsparticipated in a survey through a convenience sample. The measuringinstruments Brief COPE, LOT-R and SWLS was used. A stepwisemultiple regression analysis and independent t-test was performed inSPSS. The results showed that optimism and choice of copingstrategies affect subjective well-being, and that greater optimism wasassociated with greater well-being and emotion-focused coping. Theresults also showed that dysfunctional coping were used in higherdegree of students with low optimism. Optimism and coping strategieswere important for subjective well-being, but optimism was the keyfactor for subjective well-being.
